Good Luck Double D
Just wanted to take the time to wish Doug Davis, of the Arizona Diamondbacks, good luck with his upcoming surgery to remove his thyroid.
He was diagnosed with thyroid cancer on March 28, 2008 and is scheduled to have the surgery tomorrow, April 10.
Doug pitched the D-Backs to an emotional 10-5 victory over the Dodgers, only giving up 2 runs and striking out 7. He got a standing ovation when he left the game after the 6th inning and then he received a curtain call in which his teammates pushed him up the dugout steps.
Bob Nevin might have work cut out for him by finding someone to replace Doug's spot in the rotation, but I'm guessing that's the least of his worries.
Anyway, we'll be thinking of you, Doug!
